GWU Career Center Hires New Consultant for STEM Students

Meet Dr. Merrill

Dr. Sonya Butler Merrill currently serves as a Senior Industry Consultant in The George Washington University Career Center specializing in services to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) students. She is an accomplished businesswoman, certified career coach, trainer/facilitator, mentor, business consultant, organizational strategist, and academician with numerous years of industry sector experience. During her expansive career as a corporate officer and managerial professional, she has distinguished herself as a leader of large, high-performing teams and successful organizations. Dr. Merrill earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Temple University’s Fox School of Business with emphasis on business strategy, organizational design and development, and health services administration. Her Masters level education includes topics in civil engineering and in the management of information systems.

Beginning in July 2013, Dr. Merrill will be available to meet individually with Third and Fourth year SEAS students to assist them with internship and post-graduation job searches, including assistance with resume and cover letter writing, building a professional network, and creating and executing an internship/job search strategy. In addition, the GW Career Center provides services for First and Second year SEAS students. The GW Career Center is located in Colonial Crossroads on the fifth floor of the Marvin Center. The Center’s hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, with drop-in consulting hours from 1:00 to 4:00pm each day.
